About the Studio

A decade in the making. Still growing.

Modern Duplication was founded in 2016. Ten years later, we’re still building custom WordPress solutions for businesses that want a real technical partner — not a template shop.

Our Story

Founded in 2016.Still here.

Modern Duplication started inside a traditional agency environment — building WordPress sites across engineering, legal, healthcare, and technology sectors. A decade of that work made one thing clear: clients need a studio that shows up, does the work well, and doesn’t disappear after launch.

We’ve worked with enterprise firms and scrappy startups. We’ve built custom membership portals, multi-site networks, HubSpot CMS enterprise themes, and straightforward service company sites. The technology keeps changing. The fundamentals don’t: understand the goal, build it right, and tell the truth along the way.

US-based, Florida-headquartered. We work with clients nationally — California, New York, Texas, Chicago, and beyond. Being US-based matters less for timezone overlap and more for practical alignment: same licensing landscape, same legal frameworks, same business expectations. When you need a US-registered product integrated or a WCAG review your legal team can stand behind, we’re already operating in that context.

What a Decade Taught Us
  • Build for the content editor, not the developer.
A site a non-developer can't update is a failed site. We architect field structures and admin experiences that real humans can manage.
  • Wireframes before pixels, always.
Building without approved wireframes means rebuilding at least once. Discovery is never optional.
  • Performance is a feature, not an afterthought.
A slow site loses users before they read a word. We treat Core Web Vitals as a baseline, not an optional add-on.
  • Post-launch isn't over.
WordPress without maintenance is a liability. Plugins go outdated, security gets missed, small issues compound. We offer care plans because we've seen what happens without them.
Why Modern Duplication

The honest comparison.

Not every project needs a boutique studio. But if you’ve been burned by a disappearing freelancer, lost inside a large agency, or frustrated by a DIY template that can’t do what your business actually needs — this is worth reading.

*Comparisons are generalizations based on industry norms and may vary by provider. WCAG-informed practices are built into every project. This isn't a substitute for a formal legal ADA compliance certification — for that, we'll point you to a dedicated accessibility evaluator.

Our Approach to AI

AI is a tool. Not the craftsman.

If Wix or GoDaddy can spin up a website with AI in minutes, why pay for a custom build? Because those sites look finished but are strategically hollow — static HTML that’s brittle to update, can’t connect to your CRM or membership system, and won’t support the field architecture a real content editor needs to manage their own site.

We use AI-assisted tools — including Cursor AI — to accelerate implementation, but every decision is made and reviewed by a developer who understands the full system. Think of it like a plumber with a power wrench: the tool speeds up the work. The expertise determines whether it’s done right.

On client data and AI tools: We never input client content, passwords, or proprietary business information into AI tools. AI assists our development process — it does not touch your data.

Where AI Helps
  • AI accelerates — code scaffolding & boilerplate
Repetitive HTML structure, utility class application, and initial component scaffolding go faster with AI assistance. We review every output before it becomes production code.
  • Humans decide — architecture & field structure
ACF field groups, custom post types, taxonomy hierarchies, and database relationships require strategic thinking. A client setting their own images or updating copy needs a structure that makes sense for a human, not just a machine.
  • Humans decide — strategy & conversion
What goes above the fold, how a form flows, where a CTA lives — these decisions require understanding of your audience and goals. AI doesn't know your business. We do, because we spent a discovery session learning it.
  • AI assists — documentation & QA
We use AI tools to accelerate code documentation, cross-check accessibility requirements, and surface potential issues. Faster checks, still human-verified.
Who We Are

We build for good people.

At the end of the day, business is business — we build sites, get paid, and aim to leave something genuinely useful behind. But who we choose to work with, and how we show up for them, reflects what we actually believe.

LGBTQ+ Owned & Operated

Modern Duplication is proudly LGBTQ+ owned. We actively welcome LGBTQ+ clients, vendors, and collaborators — not as a policy, but because it’s who we are. The digital world should be open and accessible to everyone building something real.

Nonprofits & Mission-Driven Work

We believe in the work nonprofits do and offer reduced rates and flexible scoping on a case-by-case basis. Mention it during discovery — no forms, no hoops. A good website shouldn’t be inaccessible to organizations doing genuine good in the world.

Veteran-Owned Businesses

Discounts are available for veteran-owned businesses — self-attested during our discovery call. No paperwork, no verification process. If you served, and you’re building something, we want to help. Starting a business after service is exactly the kind of work we’re here for.

Open to All Good People

We work with businesses of every background, industry, size, and structure. Our client base is diverse because the world is diverse — and we think that makes us better at our work. The one thing we won’t do is partner with businesses that treat people as less than human.
